Highbury Tennis Club was launched in 2012 to encourage competitive play at Highbury Fields. Newcomers should approach the club to be invited to an assessment session which may lead to being included in one of our regular development and training sessions. These range from “Rusty Racquets” for those who haven’t played for many years to coached club sessions with one of our teams: we have five women's teams, three men’s and two mixed doubles teams. Different squads train on different days, some on weekdays and some at the weekend.
The club's aim is to encourage people to compete in various doubles leagues.
Our age range is 20 to over seventy and there is a session to suit most abilities. We do not coach children and do not instruct complete beginners.
The teams play competitively in various Middlesex leagues - the Middlesex Summer League, the Winter Floodlit League and various Middlesex Veterans' Mixed Doubles leagues. We also try out new competitive options all the while. These competitions provide a focus for development and are great fun as teams get to compete against a range of clubs around north London.
