​TOURNAMENT INSTRUCTIONS & RULES ​

  1. ​The tournament starts on Saturday 24th February and finishes in June 2024, exact date tbc.
  2. There are 6 groups of 4 players to start with and every pair has to play the other pairs in their group (3 matches) by Sunday 7th April 2024.
  3. The top two pairs in each group, plus the next 4 highest scoring pairs, go forward to the main tournament knock-out competition (last 16, quarter-, semi-, finals and 3rd and 4th place playoff).
  4. The bottom 8 pairs go to the Plate knock-out competition (quarter-, semi-, finals and 3rd and 4th place playoff).
  5. At the group stage 1 point will be awarded for each set won, but for a 2-0 win 3 points will be awarded. If there is a tie in set points for the 4 highest scoring 3rd place pairs, number of games won will be taken into consideration. If there is still a tie, the pairs can choose to play for the place, or toss a coin. 
  6. Each pair is responsible for organising their own matches, agreeing dates with opponents, booking courts etc.
  7. Best of 3 tiebreak sets. Sudden death at deuce - receiving pair choose who receives. 
  8. In the knock-out stage if time is short and the score is one set all, a championship tiebreak to 10 can be played instead of a 3rd set if both pairs agree. In the group stage this is not possible in case 10-12th places need to be allocated by highest number of games won. 
  9. Winners to email the results to [email protected] and the scores will be entered on this website. Please email the scores even if the match is unfinished.
  10. If a player is injured during play and unable to continue the match, they will concede that match and the points from the uncompleted set/s go to the other pair.  
  11. The prize for the winners of the Tournament is a can of balls per player.
