Lynn Rickett was a member of our L2 squad and passionate about tennis. A feisty player with a formidable forehand, she was a much loved part of the team. Sadly in September 2013, Lynn lost her life to cancer and that year, and each subsequent year, Highbury Tennis Club has held a tournament in her memory to raise funds for CANCERactive while having a great competitive day, which Lynn would have loved, with the added pleasure of a cake feast afterwards - one of her other great passions!
This year’s tournament on the first weekend of October was every bit as good as previous years'. For once the weather was dry and the standard of play was even higher than usual. As the photos demonstrate, competitors are encouraged to wear pink and the format means that there is some serendipity in who you are partnered with (it changes for every match) and how the results fall. But this doesn’t mean that anyone takes the competition lightly... Please enjoy the photos.
