Lynn Rickett was a member of our L2 squad and passionate about tennis. A feisty player with a formidable forehand, she was a much loved part of the team. Sadly in September 2013, Lynn lost her life to cancer and that year, and each subsequent year, Highbury Tennis Club has held a tournament in her memory to raise funds for CANCERactive while having a great competitive day, which Lynn would have loved, with the added pleasure of a cake feast afterwards - one of her other great passions!
This year’s tournament on 15th October was fabulous. It rained all morning and it rained all evening but the sun shone throughout the tournament. And, yes, there is a pink theme which adds to the general sunniness. The format of the competition is designed to create some serendipity. You change partners in each round and can play a one-off joker at any stage to double your points in the next mini-match so the winners had to be great tennis players and great judges of others' abilities too. This year, like previous years, produced some fierce court battles. Please enjoy the photos.

The day raised an incredible £1,060 for charity and money is still coming in. £910 came from entries, donations and sales of fabulous home-made cakes and £150 came from Gift Aid.
Since these tournaments started, we have raised an amazing £4,800 - as well as our spirits.

Lynn's husband, Alan, handed out the prizes to the winner and runners up.
